Ariel Gurian is an attorney admitted to practice law in Illinois and Georgia. Prior to law school, Ariel Gurian worked as a broadcast news anchor and reporter at ABC and FOX television news affiliates.
Due to her media background, Ariel Gurian was exposed to many intellectual property and entertainment law issues which piqued her interest. She learned from the best at a downtown Chicago intellectual property law firm, working a little under four years on various trademark, copyright, entertainment, internet, fashion, patent law and litigation issues before opening up Gurian Law, LLC. She also researched various commercial litigation issues as an extern at the Circuit Court of Cook County, Law Division for the Honorable Judge Brigid Mary McGrath.
During law school at Loyola University Chicago, Ariel Gurian polished her advocacy, litigation, and public speaking skills as a member of the Giles Sutherland Rich Intellectual Property Moot Court team. She was recognized on the Dean’s List for her exceptional grades. She was also the philanthropy chair of the student Decalogue Society.
As philanthropy has always been important to Ariel Gurian, she has done pro bono work for Lawyer’s for the Creative Arts in Chicago, held a board member position for the March of Dimes, raised money as a team captain for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, and devoted time to teaching elementary students to read as a volunteer for the Rockford Reads Program. Ariel Gurian has also hosted numerous events for various charities, including leading a live telethon which raised $70,000 for flood victims in a single day.
Ariel Gurian received her Bachelors of Arts in Journalism from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University. While there, she anchored her college newscast which received the award of 2005 Best College Newscast from the Society of Professional Journalists. She also interned at KSAZ-TV, KPHO-TV, ESPN Radio, and Item Magazine.
During her free time, Ariel Gurian contributes to Fox 5 Atlanta as a news reporter. She also freelances from time to time as fictional “news anchor” Rachel Cole for The Onion News Network (ONN), a satire news website.
